The latest village hall fund raising theme was a western night at the Cherington Arms.

SUNDAY 15 AUGUST 2010 – THE TENNIS TOURNAMENT
open to all and played on Tennis Courts in Cherington and Stourton. Starting at 9.15am and stopping for Lunch around 1.15pm.
Anyone interested in playing or watching and joining for Lunch telephone Janet 686547.
Tennis and Lunch £15. Lunch £10.
As you can see there were some traditional French men and some very chic Parisian ladies, some complete with their little dogs (and I’m not referring to husbands here). We were also graced by a visit from Marie Antoinette (complete with Cake for distributions to the peasants) and of course her husband Louis XV. Some of the pictures reflect the homebound state of one or two of the attendees. A good time the was had by one and all and we must of course express our thanks to Hilary and Nick for the magnificent French menu.
See you all at the next one!

The rain held off and the children ran amok having a whale of a time!
After a fantastic fund raising campaign, Simon Rutherford officially opened the new Cherington & Stourton Village Playground by dropping his arm to start the run through the tape by the local children.

A great turn out enjoyed the afternoon and whilst the incredible number of local children made the most of the new playground equipment, the parents quietly enjoyed the bar and barbeque kindly set up by Nick and Hillary.
The new slide was a great hit, as was the climbing frame tower, although many of the children decided it was more fun climbing on the tunnel rather than going through it!
The see-saw and toddlers swings were popular with the smaller children and the old faithful roundabout has never had so many children on it in one go before.
The predicted bad weather in the evening meant the fathers and childrens camp-out had to be postponed until the night following the flower show, but the children thoroughly enjoyed the whole afternoon and many finished it off with a great game of football.
Further images and comments coming soon
A new attraction will be driving the locals quackers at this years flower show in the usually sleepy village of Cherington in leafy South Warwickshire.
Following on from last years pig racing, this year we are delighted to feature duck herding on the itinerary where the skills of guiding a herd of ducks through various obstacles before gathering them in their pens is demonstrated.
