I have just been shown a press cutting from the Statford Herald in respect of the “community split” as it has been reported over the Village Hall. I do not know if this assists but I have owned the land (formerly owned by Arthur Cornish) and which is virtually adjacent the hall, since 1996.

I note one of the obstacles to re-building/re-furbishing on the the existing site is that of parking. In short, I would be prepared to consider “donating” sufficient of the land in my ownership to the community for car parking in return for permission to build a dwelling on the remainder of the land. i.e what is known as “enabling development”. I am told this an approach which is currently being considered by the committee on the existing site. I have never made any application for development on the land since acquisition and don’t even know if my proposition is feasible, but my interest stems from having close links with and fond memories of the village through the 80′s and 90′s when the Cherington Arms was run by Bob and Barbara Webb. I was personally brought up in the neighbouring village of Little Wolford where ironically my Mother managed the Village Hall !

I am also the Managing Director of a firm of Chartered Quantity Surveyors so am well versed in the heartaches of development projects and the vagrancies of their associated cost.

As previously stated I am uncertain whether this offer helps or hinders the current propositions but would be prepared to meet with appropriate personnel should this prove of any interest.
